Double Chin Reduction

What is Double Chin Reduction?

Double chin reduction is a non-surgical approach to sculpting the jawline and neck. This treatment utilises a natural enzyme to safely and effectively target stubborn double chin fat.  This ‘submental’ area under the chin often holds fat despite efforts at weight loss. Using targeted treatment, fat cells are destroyed permanently, leaving a defined chin contour.

What causes ‘submental’ chin fat?

Firstly, it’s important to recognise that a double chin is not necessarily a consequence of being overweight. You can drop excess weight and still struggle to shift fat in the area under the chin. There are a few other factors that might contribute to double chin fat:

  • Age: As we age, our skin produces less collagen and loses its all-important elasticity. This can contribute to a sagging of the skin and emphasise the under-chin area.

  • Genes: Your genetic makeup can play a big part in the development of a double chin. The level of skin elasticity we have is genetically inherited, so if your parents struggled with this issue then you may too.

  • Posture: Believe it or not, poor posture can contribute to muscle weakening in the neck and chin. As the muscle atrophies, the overall sag becomes more pronounced.

Even though we might not know the particular causes of chin fat, in most people it is probably a combination of all of these factors. Weakened skin elasticity and muscle tone, combined with fatty deposits in the area, create the double chin effect.

What is involved in the treatment?

Double chin treatment is an effective, non surgical approach to rid double chin fat. The process is completed with numbing, in less than 20 minutes, with results visible from as little as 4 weeks. Dr Gemma will use a product that is naturally occuring in our own bodies to break down fat cells in the submental chin area, for natural, permanent fat cell removal. The process normally requires 3 treatments and lasts for several years (usually only returns with weight gain).

Why choose to have Double Chin Reduction?

Feeling like you are not looking your best can greatly affect your confidence and self-esteem. Dr Gemma can help you to enhance your natural beauty and remove stubborn areas of fat that can stop you from feeling your best. Anyone who has tried dieting will know that you cannot choose where you lose your weight from and stubborn chin fat can often remain. This treatment offers a non surgical approach to double chin reduction, which helps to minimise risks, costs, and downtime associated with surgery.

What is the downtime with Double Chin Reduction?

There is minimal downtime from this treatment, but you might like to take it easy for a couple of days following treatment as there will be swelling and may be bruising. Swelling is usually worst the day following treatment, and then will begin to ease, Using ice to help the swelling, and sleeping slightly upright the first couple of days can help to minimise swelling in the area.
