Rejuran Skin Treatment
What is Rejuran?
Rejuran is one of the newest skinboosters to have been approved for use in Australia. It contains Polynucleotides derived from salmon DNA as the active ingredient, and has rejuvenating properties for the skin. Polynucleotides are biological molecules that play a role in tissue repair and regeneration, leading to stimulation of collagen and elastin, and repair of the damaged and ageing skin. It is also popular for inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea.

There are three Rejuran products available in Australia: Rejuran Healer, Rejuran i, and Rejuran S. All three products contain the same active ingredient (polynucleotide).
Rejuran Healer is used for whole face rejuvenation to improve fine lines, skin texture, skin tone, to reduce the effects of ageing and sun damage, and for rosacea.
Rejuran i is used for more delicate skin such as the skin around the eyes to address crepiness, wrinkles and dark circles.
Rejuran S is used to improve the appearance of scars and acne marks.

Polynucleotides are biological molecules that play a role in tissue repair and regeneration. Rejuran has a wide range of effects when injected directly into the skin including stimulation of cellular activity and growth factors leading to stimulation of collagen, improvement in skin elasticity and repair of the damaged and ageing skin from within.

In general, we encourage 2-3 initial treatments 2-4 weeks apart, and repeat as needed (as our skin continues to age) which for some may be 6 monthly, or for others 12 monthly.
It is important to find a skilled and experienced provider who is able to deliver the product into the accurate layer of the skin as maximal visible results are achieved when the product is delivered precisely into the intradermal layer of the skin.
-
Rejuran is very different from fillers. Most fillers are made up of crosslinked hyaluronic acid molecules which attract water and therefore are able to provide volume. Rejuran on the other hand is made up of polynucleotides which work by promoting skin regeneration at a cellular level and does not cause an increase in volume.
-
Perception of pain with Rejuran treatment can vary among individuals, however it is generally well tolerated with appropriate analgesia. Rejuran treatment involves delivery of the product directly into the skin involving a series of multiple small injections across the treatment area. At our clinic we ensure patients are appropriately numbed with topical anaesthesia prior to treatment. Rejuran injections are administered using ultra fine needles which are thinner than those used for other common injectable treatments.
-
The duration of results from Rejuran treatment can vary depending on factors such as age, lifestyle, and the severity of skin concerns being addressed. Rejuran aims to ‘heal’ the skin at a cellular level leading to improvement in skin health, however the ageing process and exogenous stress of our skin continues which is why it is difficult to answer exactly how long Rejuran lasts.

First session: Improved hydration of the skin
Second session: Improvement in skin elasticity
Third session: Reduced fine lines
